"STOP!" Green Lantern yelled.
Two menacing figures stood, faces inches from each other, with promises of death in their eyes. A ring of figures surrounded them -- the Justice League.
"What," -- Batman growled -- "did you say?"
Superman floated higher, so Batman had to look up at him. "I said." He grinned grimly. "You're a bad hero."
"Superman, stop!" Green Lantern yelled again, trying to push his way between them.
Batman stepped closer to Superman, ignoring Green Lantern. "And what do you mean by that?"
"When you see yourself, Batman, are you proud? You stay in one city, flying around in your cape, living a good life, playing around with the Joker."
"Do you have a death-wish?" Batman's face was bent with rage. "Do you even know how hard I work to fight off crime in Gotham?"
"Guess what, Batman? Nothing ever gets done! How many times has the Joker escaped from jail, and then gone off to kill another 100 people. Then guess what, you capture him and personally escort him back to his cell. Ignoring every call for his death! Why do you vouch for that lunatic? You're no hero, you're a fool in a cape."
Batman glared at Superman, his breathing labored. Then he slammed his fist into Superman's face. Superman barely reacted. The Justice League shouted and pushed forward to stop the conflict.
"What is your problem!" Batman yelled as hands tried to pull him away from Superman. He kicked as hard as he could at Superman. Again, he barely reacted.
"I only tell the truth." No one was even trying to restrict Superman. "But I think you need to learn a lesson."
"Batman, Superman, stop this!"
"Oh yeah? I need to learn a lesson? Well I think you need to!"
At that moment, the wall exploded inward, hurling almost everyone to the floor. Batman clambered onto his feet and pushed past Justice League members toward the armor-clad prototype war-truck that had burst through the wall. Smoke enveloped him and he reached into the cockpit, grabbing a glowing, green knife.
"You fool!" Superman screamed, shying away from the knife as Batman sliced it through the air. "You would bring Kryptonite!"
Batman roared and bolted toward Superman, past unconscious members of the Justice League whom the explosion had splayed out on the floor. Green Lantern charged at Batman, who dodged and sliced at him.
"Batman! Stop this insanity before you get yourself killed!"
"Stay --" Batman sliced at Green Lantern again. " -- Out of this!"
Superman screamed through the air, moving so quickly he looked almost like the Flash, who wasn't here, luckily. He punched into Batman, sending him spinning until he cracked his helmet against the wall.
Batman's truck began firing massive rounds that shook the entire building. The gunshots rattled the Justice League's brains and flashed a bright orange in the smoke. Bullets exploded against the walls, sending the entire room into absolute chaos. Batman screamed and sliced at Superman, who frantically flew back. Green Lantern yelled and tried to galvanize the Justice League into stopping the fight.
"Call the Flash! Call the Flash!" someone yelled. "He can stop them!"
Death-red blood ran from Batman's skull, and his arms felt like masses of heavy iron. A rage deep in his heart fueled him, telling him to keep fighting.
Bullets erupted against Superman's skin, sending his body shaking like an earthquake. "Turn off the guns!"
Batman growled, trying to ignore the pain in his head, and charged toward Superman. In the blink of an eye, Superman dodged away. And the guns, which had their sights trained on him, continued firing, even when the bullet's paths intercepted with Batman.
The massive bullets slammed through Batman's armor, digging deep into his flesh. His entire body rippled like an ocean with each bullet. Then, thick, hot clouds of red steam smoking from him, he crashed flat to the ground.
Green Lantern screamed in horror, and Superman's eyes bulged with the bone-chilling realization of what he had done.
